Webshop and accounts: which connection fits you?

When the webshop and the accounts do not talk to each other, you get double work, wrong VAT and payouts that do not match the bank account. Answer five questions and you get a suggestion for how the connection should work for you, what has to be connected correctly, and how to test that it adds up. Your answers stay in your browser.

1. Which webshop do you have?
2. Which accounting system do you use?
3. How many ways can customers pay?
4. Roughly how many orders do you get a month?
5. Who does the bookkeeping today?

Answer all five and the suggestion appears here. Your answers stay in your browser.

Three ways to connect a webshop and the accounts

  • Each order on its own: every order becomes an entry in the accounts straight away. Gives the best overview with few orders, but many entries when there are many.
  • One entry per day: the day’s sales are recorded as one entry, split by VAT rate and payment method. Tidy with many orders, but every day has to match the payouts.
  • Import by hand: a file from the webshop is loaded into the accounts at regular intervals. Works with low sales, but is easy to forget.

We do not recommend a particular provider

Both Tripletex and Fiken, the accounting systems many Norwegian small businesses use, can be connected to the most common webshops: with ready-made connections from the accounting system, from a third party, or with a connection built for you. What fits depends on how you sell and who keeps the accounts.

We are not paid to recommend either of them, and this page has no affiliate links.
