Move away from Vipps Checkout well before 30 April 2027
If your webshop uses Vipps Checkout, the ready-made checkout where the customer fills in the address, chooses shipping and pays in Vipps, it has to be replaced before 30 April 2027. That is when it closes. We make the move for you: a new checkout, shipping and pick-up points, test purchases, and a check that orders reach your accounts correctly.
What changes for the shop
The checkout changes, Vipps stays
Only the ready-made checkout is closing. Vipps MobilePay continues with ordinary Vipps payment in webshops, so customers can still pay with Vipps in the new checkout.
Your agreement is already with Kustom
The part of the Vipps agreement that covers the checkout was moved to Kustom on 30 April 2026. According to Kustom you do not need to sign a new agreement, and your prices stay the same.
Payments go through Stripe
Kustom writes that payments are processed by Stripe once the shop has switched to Kustom’s checkout. The payment method then often gets a new name in the shop, and the connection to your accounts must know where to record the new payments.
Shipping must be set up again
Vipps Checkout took care of shipping choices and pick-up points. In a new checkout they must be set up again and tested, or the customer gets the wrong shipping or nothing to choose.
The date does not move
After 30 April 2027 the shop cannot take payment through the old checkout. Vipps MobilePay writes that shops will be contacted directly, but the deadline is the same if you wait for that.

A new checkout is set up on a copy of the shop
Kustom Checkout or another checkout with Vipps, whichever suits your shop. Customers notice nothing yet.
Shipping and pick-up points are set up again
With the same choices and prices as today, also for large items and customers far away.
Test purchases: we pay and choose shipping like a customer
With real postcodes, on phone and PC, before anything changes in the real shop.
The order is checked against the accounts
That the order, the payment and the fee reach Tripletex, Fiken or whatever you use correctly, and that sales are measured as before.
The switch happens on a quiet day
We follow the first orders afterwards and tell you if something looks wrong.

Questions we often get
Do I have to stop using Vipps when Vipps Checkout closes?
No. Only the ready-made checkout closes on 30 April 2027. Ordinary Vipps payment continues, so customers can pay with Vipps in the new checkout.
How can I tell whether my shop uses Vipps Checkout?
Go through a purchase yourself. If you reach a page where the whole checkout belongs to Vipps, with address, shipping and payment together, you are using Vipps Checkout. The webshop check also shows whether the shop appears to use it.
Do I have to switch to Kustom, or can I choose something else?
You can choose. Kustom Checkout is the closest replacement, with Vipps, card and Klarna in one checkout. You can also use the shop’s own checkout with Vipps as a payment option, or another checkout solution. We recommend based on your shipping, whether you have business customers, and what your customers pay with today.
When should we switch?
Preferably before the Christmas rush, or right after it. Many shops will change checkout at the same time this winter, and few will want to do it in the middle of high season. A simple shop with few shipping choices takes little time; a shop with many shipping agreements or business customers needs more.
What about Vipps Express Checkout and recurring payments?
They have their own dates. Kustom writes that the transition for express checkout is expected to start in the second half of 2026, and for recurring payments towards the end of 2026. If you use them, ask Vipps or Kustom and get the answer in writing.
What does it cost to move from Vipps Checkout?
It depends on how many shipping choices and pick-up points you have, whether you have business customers, and how much the checkout has been customised. You get a written proposal with the price before anything starts.
Can you replace the checkout even if someone else built the shop?
Yes. We take a backup first and flag what is risky before we change anything. If the shop is old, it often has to be updated before the new checkout can go in, and we say so before we start.
